A Day in Time In My Life

One thing I love about blogging is participating in online events, where one blogger blogs about something & then invites their readers to follow along with them and blog about your own experience. One of my favourites in a Week in the Life by Ali Edwards. She has taken the idea of a Week in the Life & condensed it to a Day in the Life. Another blogger I like to read Rita from Suburbs Mama and today I saw that she decided to document a day in her life. So why not jump on the same band wagon! Yesterday I grabbed my camera & documented my yesterday.

8am – I slept in then decided at 8am that I had better start my day.

After getting up I released Curios from his cage, that he had been in since WH left for work about 15mins earlier. Though from the noise he was making (the reason I decided to get up when I did) you would like that he had been locked up all day.

Went back to the bedroom to get dressed & make the bed. Turned around & my stalker was entering.

9am – sat down in the music room to spend some quite time alone with God.

Had breakfast & put the dishes away from last night.

Checked emails, read some blogs & finished my new phone pouch (too cute right? I’ll post about this cutie soon).

Got reminder on my phone to send texts out about Youth group this week. Also washed the dishes from breakfast & finally remembered to book the car in for a service.

11am – finished folding & putting away clothes that were washed the day before.

Put a coat of paint on my frame project (more coming about this)

12noon – Did some more work on a tablet computer case for a friend & lunch. Also turned the TV to watch some mindless TV. Great for when your doing repetitive jobs, like unpicking.

2pm – Made shortcrust pastry for dinner & put another coast of paint on my frame project.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

4pm – Made a start on some ‘thank you’ cards for all the lovely birthday gifts I got last week.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

5pm – Realised that I hadn’t finished making the pastry base from dinner, opps! Rolled pastry, put it in the pastry case & popped it into the fridge before blind baking (bit warm for shortcrust pastry today)

6pm – finished cooking dinner with help from WH

7pm – Eating dinner & watching TV

That is pretty much the end of my day, other than showers, washing the dishes, brushing teeth then going to bed.

I wrote down what I did all day on Ali Edwards Daily Sheets from last years Week in the Life. One thing I have taken away from this exercise is that I accomplish heaps in the morning! I think that is probably because it is summer & it get hot & humid late morning into the afternoon.

This was a pretty normal day for me, things would be alittle different if I had work or was doing one of the couple of  volunteer jobs that I do. I don’t know if I will just leave the day documented like this or if I’ll put all the photos & the daily sheets together in a layout. Not sure. I will have to think about it.

My new necklace

I love working with my hands, I scrapbook, sew, make cards & make jewellery. Well I mend my jewellery when it breaks. At Christmas time my SIL (sister in-law) gave me a pendant with my initial in it, I loved it straight away. Especially since I knew that it had come from an Etsy seller. Problem was that the pendant came with a ribbon to hang around your neck, I knew straight away that the ribbon wouldn’t last.

This month I noticed that the ribbon was getting holes & wearing out. I didn’t want to change the ribbon for a chain, it wasn’t the look I was going for. I wanted something different. I don’t know where I got the idea from, but I wanted to make a bow & hang the  pendant from the bow.

A few hours before my birthday dinner on the weekend I decided to sit down & try to put my thoughts into reality. It came together so quickly & I am just so happy with the end result. It was such a easy thing to do, the hardest part was the bow. I am not a good bow tier, so I did a quick Google & found this video that was very helpful (I made the last of the two bows that the video shows).

The whole process took a few basic supplies that I had on hand

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I pretty much use most of these supplies when I do any craft, except the jewellery making supplies. I used a couple of jump rings, a clasp & some chain (I had to buy that as I didn’t have any).

After I made the bow I attached two jump rings to the top & bottom. To the bottom jump ring I attached the pendant & the top jump ring was attached to one of the links in the chain. I did  this because I hate when a chain on a necklace moves and you end up with the clasp being seen from the front.

I am liking long necklaces at the moment so I spent abit of time in the mirror choosing the length of the chain. Here is the length I ended up choosing.

I have gotten a few comments about my new necklace & very shock expressions when I say that I made it. Maybe I will go through my other jewellery and see what I can update & change.

Who else redesigns jewellery to get a second life out of it?

I’m 29

Yesterday was my birthday. So I am now 29 as I suspected in this post I don’t feel any different than I did on Friday when I was still 28. Other than alittle more tired, but that has to do with a completely different reason, work. Which is why I have been alittle light on the posting.

Since late last year I have been working for our church doing all the administration work for the Youth ministry, last week we planned & began youth group for 2012. So I have spent the last week organising an entire semester of activities & creating a flyer. I am so close  to being done just waiting on a few people to be getting  back to be  with forms that need filling out & other people are organising events that I need to add to the flyer.

Anyway, slight diversion, my birthday. Yesterday I did nothing. Which was nice I got to sit on the couch, eat popcorn & brownies while watching my favourite TV show. Then in the evening WH had organised dinner with some friends at a Thai place on the coast after dinner we popped next door & had gelato which was yummy. Sat in a park across from the restaurant & chatted before heading home.

Today I spent some birthday gift cards I was given, I love gift cards. Not just because you get to choose something you know you will like but because I like going shopping. I also picked up some felt for a gift for a friend of ours, his birthday was last month but I haven’t had any felt to make his birthday present with. I’m making him a cover for his new tablet computer. I’ll have to get on that tomorrow.

Speaking of tomorrow I am having lunch with my parents for my birthday (this birthday just keeps going!) & then sometime this week or next WH is taking me out for dessert & a movie.

I made myself a piece of jewellery to wear to my birthday dinner last night that I can’t wait to show you. Once I have finished taken the pictures I’ll post that.
